Bypassing Websense With Your Own Proxy

This is by far the most effective way to bypass Websense. It involves creating your own private proxy. Don’t be alarmed, it’s easy and it’s free. These are the steps to follow:

  1. Sign-up for free web hosting. There are hundreds of web hosts who offer free hosting. Just do a search on google for free web hosting and you’ll find many resources and references. I won’t suggest any because then everyone would sign up with the same free web host. This would cause trouble because proxies are not allowed on free web hosts. Don’t worry if they shut down your account. Just move to the next free web host provider :)
  2. Complete your sign up and activate your account. Make sure you keep your account details somewhere handy because you’ll need them soon
  3. Go to this website and download any of the free proxy scripts. Surrogafier is the easiest to deal with because it’s just one file. However, it’s not the best and might cause some errors and/or warnings with some free webhosts. Glype and Zelune are very good scripts however they have some special requirements that free hosting might not care for. PHP proxy is good as well but is not maintained/developed any more. In any case, you can download and try all of them.
  4. Installing the proxy is not difficult. Some scripts come with their own help file. You just need to upload the files on your free hosting. Some scripts require a couple of changes to work but nothing major. Just read the help file. Surrogafier doesn’t need anything. You just upload one file and you are done!
  5. Once you have uploaded everything on your free web host, go to the url of your page and voila your own private proxy!

Warning:  Don’t give out the url of your private proxy. This will bring traffic to it and together attention from the web host. If they realize you are running a proxy they’ll terminate your account. If your friends want a proxy as well, just refer them to this page and help them to create their own proxy preferably on a different free web host.

In case the web host terminates your account, just move to the next free web proxy and set up your proxy there.
